Upper Arlington: A City Prepared for the Future
To accommodate the growing population and appeal of Upper Arlington, the City has issued permits for nearly $1.1 billion in new construction and renovations over the past four years. There have been major upgrades of our public parks and main thoroughfares. Our key commercial areas have new zoning and development standards, and tighter property maintenance requirements. Many of our neighborhoods have new sidewalks. The City’s police and fire operations have undergone an outside review to identify existing strengths and future objectives, and our nondiscrimination ordinance now reflects 21st century realities. The poll worker protection ordinance, which John introduced earlier this year, was adopted and served as the template for similar ordinances that several major Ohio cities, including Columbus, adopted in the weeks immediately following. Meanwhile, Upper Arlington has maintained its AAA bond rating, and the City has kept a steady eye on efficiently providing the fundamental services that are its primary responsibility.
In helping to achieve these civic accomplishments, for which many people deserve credit, John has taken seriously the responsibility that you entrusted to him as one of your seven City Council members. That includes his participation over the past four years in:
- 131 City Council meetings
- 570 City Council votes
- 289 ordinances enacted by City Council
- 68 resolutions adopted by City Council
To ensure that Upper Arlington continues on this forward-thinking trajectory of progress and prosperity, it’s vital that we keep John Kulewicz on Upper Arlington City Council. He’s committed to managing growth in a way that’s respectful of the City’s history yet welcoming to new and current residents and small businesses alike.
